Cuti Cuti Melaka
Warning: This blog entry will cause you headache because of the writer’s English.
It was a tiring but rewarding Saturday. My friends and I went to Melaka, Malaysia for a photo-shoot. I woke up early that morning. I was excited and I even cooked breakfast so that we’ll not be hungry along the way. My feeling was I’ll be attending a school fieldtrip on that day.
5:30am was the call time. The gang was already at the Sembawang bus stop waiting for Mr. Kubota-san. This good Japanese friend volunteered that he’ll be our driver for the entire Melaka trip. He was also the one initiated this out of town. I don’t know what was the exact time he arrived at the bus stop, only thing I remembered was that I was already laughing on how the GPS device pronounced the Marsiling Road. The GPS pronounced it in a conyo way. Laugh trip!
We reached the Singapore and Malaysia immigration without much hassle. The long trip was just started after the Malaysia border. {At the border}According to the GPS, we need to travel 205 kilometers to get to the Melaka town proper. Aiyoo… Should I sleep now? Hehe… As I about to sleep, one buddy crack a joke, so I decided not to take that cherished sleep and just listen to what he was saying. What we did in the entire car ride was giving jokes, sharing sentiments to the company and telling some non-sense stories. It was a nice and UNfruitful conversation. LOL.
Yey! We got lost for the first time. We missed the GPS instruction because of our loud conversations. It was the first and the last lost we encountered until we reached the Melaka town proper.GPS was still reliable.
{At Melaka} At last we arrived to our destination. We reached about an hour before lunch time. The time was still nice to take some photos before the much awaited Lunch. A very hot weather welcomed us. I felt lazy because of the weather so after few shots, I just watched my friends on what they were doing. After the first photo-shoot, we went straight to the chicken ball rice shop. There we took our lunch. It was a so-so lunch.
{The photo-shoot} We followed the iterinary that our Malaysian officemate gave to us. We were trying not to miss the important landmarks that he jotted in his list. Again, I felt really tired because of the climate that was why I didn’t take much photo.
{Getting lost} During our photo-session, one uncle approached us and told some teachings about Quran. Somehow it got my attention. But, the main purpose of our trip was to take some good shots, so one of my friends asked uncle on where we can shoot a good sunset. Uncle instructed us to go to the Sungai Baru shore. He said that it was about 26kilometers from where we were at the moment. It was getting late so we decided to push to Sungai Baru. Along the way, the GPS didn’t show any location on where we were. It looked like we were floating on the sea. Whoah. Luckily there were road signs to follow. We travelled almost an hour to reach the shore. We took pictures of the sunset and the scenery. We also decided to take dinner in that area because it was already eating time. After a refreshing dinner along the shore, we decided to go back to Melaka central. The GPS was programmed to take us back to the central. It was already dark outside. The road signs were not noticeable; we just followed the GPS instructions. Along the way, we encountered checkpoint. The man in a camouflage shirt talked, ‘Mister this is an Army camp and a private area, you are not allowed to go inside’. So the gang started to laugh. That bullshit GPS will put us to jail. We just asked the officer on how to go to central. I think he instructed us the wrong way, because when we followed what he said, we reached a creepy dead end (looks like a place where you will put a dead body). Arg. So we asked again for an instruction to a villager, a not so helpful instruction but we managed to find the way going out. =)
At last, we already reached the highway going back to Singapore. Still couldn’t sleep. Our friend driver was very tired already. We need to wake him up with our stories. We were nearly got to bump the gutter twice. Luckily we arrived home safely.
Yeah… it was a very adventurous experience. \m/ Until the next bulakbol…

Ei Liz, thanks for dropping by into my blog. There are lot of good places to visit in Malaysia. It depends on where will you stay and what's your trip. Ofcourse, you dont want to miss the KL tower and Petronas Towers. Some good places to visit are: Batu Caves, Genting Highlands, Melaka, Redang, Terenganu, Langawi, Penang. The last 4 places i've metioned have nice beaches. :)
enjoy your stay in Malaysia...
Let me know if you have questions.
